I was wondering whether I needed to go get a new battery for my Yamaha Bruin or it just needed to be charged. It had been about 6 months since the four wheeler was last started and just before it had been parked, it was taken through a rather large mud puddle, which I think immersed the carburetor. I don't know if water got in, but it definitely would not start.
I did some looking online to see if there was a guideline for knowing whether I needed to go get a new battery since we had killed it trying to start the ATV.
I found a really great article about battery life and charging an ATV or motorcycle battery. There is really good information here and I really appreciated knowing the scoop.
I did not know that you could never fully recharge an ATV battery that has been completely dead. I also did know know that you could buy a charger that could actually just charge your battery when it was needed, so that it wouldn't harm the battery to have it plugged in if I forget to unplug it.
