Cadmium Poisoning In China

Health checks that conducted on 3,000 people living near a plant in Liuyang county, Hunan province, revealed 509 people who have excessive levels of cadmium in their body. Cadmium is a toxic substance which is used to make batteries.

As a move to the problem, the authorities immediately detained the head of the plant and had suspended two environmental officials.
