Competence Network North now has officially commenced work on high-tech batteries development for the use in (hybrid) electric cars where various educational and research institutions such as Universities of Münster, Bochum, Hannover, RWTH Aachen University, Research Centre Jülich, and Düsseldorf Max Planck Institut für Eisenforschung join forces for this collaborative project.The aim is to maximize and optimize the use of the lithium ion batteries for the future use of electric cars.
The research on this high tech batteries were made possible by the € 11 million grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to be able to also boost the German knowledge in the state-of-the-art power train technology.
