Nissan's new, all electric battery car, will be having the same brand of battery running the vehicle. Nissan's Tyne and Wear plant shall be the ones producing this batter in Sunderland.

Three hundred and fifty assembling and testing jobs will be created because of these new Nissan battery packs which shall be produced in an all new facility adjoined to the existing car plant.

Demand in the earlier part of two thousand and nine caused the Sunderland plant to retrench twelve hundred employees. That would be roughly, twenty five percent of their employee base.
