Using alabar chestnut tree and cactus plant as electrodes, a team of high school students from Kaohsiung won the "future entrepreneurship" award.
The contest held by the ministry of Education in Taipei received entries from seventeen student teams from all over Taiwan competing for the prestigious five awards.
According to the winning high school team, they got the idea of making plant batteries from online reports about fruit battery experiments.
