I recently went to buy an aftermarket battery for my old, wonderful, Canon camera, but I was appalled and disgusted by the outlandish cost of a replacement battery. I had a choice between a $38 (plus shipping) factory battery, of an $18 (free shipping) battery, and I mistakenly chose the cheaper of the two.The factory battery is akin to the one that kept you in photos for two-plus years. It's spendy, but it's the real deal. The aftermarket battery isn't as costly, but it isn't as good. It's half the price, but a tenth of the quality. In short, don't be cheap. The battery will work for a few weeks at least, but from my own experience, it will die quickly, and you'll hate the merchant and yourself thereafter.
