Solar car battery charger project

I am working on a project where I am making a car battery charger that is powered by solar cells. I know you are supposed to limit the current when charging the battery so it won't heat up and explode, but I don't know what I should limit the current to. Does anyone know how much current I should give a regular 12V car battery to safely charge it? Thanks!
